Mood Enhancing Mushroom Topping



I started making this a couple of months ago and now I can't get enough. It's my favorite way to enjoy mushrooms which compliments almost any dish as well as providing my body and mood with a natural source of Vitamin D which with all this rain, it desperately needs! 

Your success rate will be a lot higher to continue on the health train if you learn to make your dishes flavorful.  Healthy food does not equal bland food!  Eating healthy can be enjoyable and make you feel better in the process.  One way to bring happiness to your dishes is by understanding how to flavor.  

There's 5 flavors, salt, sweet, bitter, sour and umami (aka savory).  In this post I'm going to share with you a way to add umami to your dishes. It is one of my favorite flavors and I believe it may be a lot of people's faves given all the MSG added to food products which elicits the same taste response. Unfortunately that taste comes with a price of harming our body and brain. MSG is bad business for our brain so I stay away from any products that contain it, like fake meats. Umami tastes comes from meats so it is commonly added to the vegan fake meats. With that said if you do eat real meats, cheese and broths you won't have much difficulty obtaining umami flavor, but what if you don't eat these foods. Common condiments contain umami like soy sauce, fish sauce, and ketchup, but I don't always like to rely on condiments to add flavor. I much rather obtain flavor from a whole food source with some additional body, beauty, mind nutrients and fiber.  I found a way in this mushroom topping! 

This topping can be added to almost anything!  Make a big batch and add a little here and there to bling up your savory dishes while boosting your mood!  l love adding to my evening hot/cold salads!
