EVERYTHING WALNUT CREAM "CHEESE" FOCACCIA SANDWICHES! 3 WAYS! PICKLED VEGGIE AND SALMON WITH SPICY DIPPING SAUCE, SUN DRIED TOMATO, AND BLUEBERRY JELLY!
A FROZEN ROOT VEGETABLE TRANSFORMED INTO FOCACCIA!
Gordon Ramsay says give vegetables attitude and I think I nailed it here!
I've been doing some major freeze diving these last 2 weeks, and I am so happy I picked up several bags of frozen yucca last time I went to the store because they are becoming my numero uno go to for designing bread like products.
If you follow this blog, you know how I feel about my yucca pizza crust. There's about 10 yucca pizza recipes alone in the upcoming Sexy Starts in the Kitchen cookbook, and that's with me editing some out!
I started to make sandwiches with the pizza crust which led me to these focaccia sandwiches. I just did a little twist to the normal batter I use to make the pizza crust and added a second cooking step of toasting. A simple twist to the recipe and process, and I made a completely different dish!
I couldn't get enough of these sandwiches! I made three different kinds. There may have also been a PB & J one, but that didn't make it to the photography studio. Which is sad considering my studio is in my apartment 10 steps away from my kitchen.
A LITTLE ABOUT THE WALNUT OIL
I used the same walnut oil to make this cream cheese that I used in my Cooking Scattergories game to make the Walnut Linguine. I believe the walnut oil shined in the pasta dish, whereas in this cheese it was kinda lost a bit. The aroma in the pasta was sexy and delicious, where in this cheese it's hidden. You will still be gifted with walnut oil's beautifying omega-3 and -6 fatty acids, so all is not lost. But since it's a more gourmet, higher dollar item I wanted to share my experience. With that said feel free to keep the walnut oil in or sub with extra virgin olive oil!
Speaking of walnut oil, have you ever used it? I'm just now getting familiar with it and would love to hear your experiences with it. Are there any dishes that worked and didn't work for you? Any advice I would love to hear!
Have a great weekend! Sounds we are finally having some good weather here in Maryland! Time to start tilling the Victory Garden!
Wow three posts in a row! Not going to the store has really saved me some time I guess!
Stay safe and b.well,
