Strength through Resilience
Rooted from over 20 years in the health and wellness industry, I created NC to provide a lifestyle that heals, strengthens, and expands the mind in order for one to fulfill their purpose and live a life of excellence and happiness!
Here’s my journey….
Eating for BODY: I’ve always had a natural affinity for exercising. I wanted to be Kiana, from Kiana’s Flex Appeal! During middle school & high school summers I’d workout “with” Kiana.
When I turned 15, my father gave me a gym membership to help my performance in field hockey and lacrosse. My love for working out led me to choose to study Exercise Sports Science as an undergrad at Elon University. It was here where I started to learn about eating for sports performance and body shaping. I dove further into researching as I became a Personal Trainer at 20 and starting competing in figure then fitness bikini for seven years, serving as my own trainer and nutritionist. It took a number of comps, but through perseverance & spirit, I was able to earn two first place titles, one in figure & one in bikini. How one can manipulate body shape through diet fascinates me.
Eating for BEAUTY: At 30, I grew frustrated with having severe acne after spending a considerable amount on expensive skin care and treatments feeling like I had the skin of 13yr old boy. I took a food intolerance test and after simply eliminating the prime inflammatory suspects, my skin finally cleared up. I started a blog to journal my lifestyle change from a highly carnivorous diet of chicken and egg whites to one mainly filled with plants. This helped intensify my learning of how macronutrients and micronutrients can help us not only become more beautiful, but also look younger. Eliminating foods helped clear my skin, but it was when I started eating foods high in vitamins, minerals, & anti-inflammatory agents when my skin glowed, my eyes brightened, and my hair strengthened.
Eating for MIND: This is what fuels my passion the most, as from the ages of 17- 34 I watched my lovely mother slowly lose her own mind and beauty from Alzheimer’s. The same year my mother passed, my sister was diagnosed with having this horrible, incurable disease that took our mother’s life, which eventually would take hers 7 years later.
Seeing my mother and sister endure the pain inflicted upon them from Alzheimer’s for so long was simply heart wrenching. So impacting, from these experiences I felt a strong sense of purpose to help bring awareness and support to this disease.
Several years after my sister’s passing, I’m revitalizing what was once just a food brand, to a lifestyle brand, as living well takes not only what foods you put in your body, but what thoughts you put in your mind as well. In a greater place of strength, worth, and clarity, I designed NutraCouture to help others live fulfilled by healing, strengthening and expanding one’s mind. To provide a space for the children and siblings of those inflicted with Alzheimer’s and those who have experienced trauma, to escape and strengthen by means of education and creation. As well as to bring awareness to Early Onset Alzheimer’s.
Through a healed heart and a strengthened, expanded mind, it is with honor, love and wings that I present to you NutraCouture®.
